Two drug dealers from the east have been sentenced to federal prison time.
39-year-old Frederick Horne of Morehead City and 38-year-old Nicole Mayers of Newport were sentenced after pleading guilty in federal court in Greenville.
Horne was sentenced to 6 years 8 months and Mayers was sentenced to 12 years. Both were investigated by the Carteret County Sheriff's Office and arrested in December 2010 on numerous felony drug charges.
Repeat drug offenders are arrested for cocaine trafficking in Carteret County.
Carteret County Sheriff's Drug Detectives arrested 37-year-old Nicole Grady Mayers of Newport and Frederick Horne of Morehead City Tuesday on numerous counts of trafficking cocaine and related charges.
The Sheriff's Office received complaints from citizens Horne was selling crack cocaine in Carteret County. An undercover operation by the Sheriff's Office, Morehead City Police and U. S. Coast
Guard Investigative Service resulted in the arrest of Horne and Mayers after undercover detectives purchased 110 grams of crack cocaine from them.
Mayers was placed under $500,000 secured bond and Horne was placed under a $1,000,000 secured bond. Horne has prior convictions for Cocaine Trafficking and other drug charges and was released from prison in 2009. Mayers has prior convictions for Selling Controlled Substances, Common Law Robbery and Shoplifting.
