Two swimming alerts have been lifted in Carteret County.
The alerts were issued Wednesday after an unsafe level of bacteria was found on the north side of the Town Creek in Beaufort and the oceanside waters of the public beach access at the Atlantic Beach Circle.
The second tests of these waters now show the bacteria level is within safe levels and the alerts have been lifted.
Two swimming alerts have been issued in Carteret County, while another advisory has been lifted.
Test results showed a high level of bacteria on the north side of the mouth of Town Creek in Beaufort and oceanside waters at the public beach access at the Atlantic Beach Circle off Atlantic Boulevard.
If a second test today also shows bacteria issues, state officials will post a swimming advisory sign and issue a swimming advisory.
Meanwhile, the advisory at the public beach access at mile marker #15 off Highway 58 in Emerald Isle has been lifted. The sign warning swimmers to stay out the water has been removed.
