Three people are accused of trafficking prescription medications.
Lawmen say the three, from Carteret County, drove to Jacksonville and purchased 56 dosage units of Percocet. Authorities say the three then returned to Carteret County where they were arrested after at traffic stop in the Bogue community.
The bust was made by the Carteret County Sheriff's Office with the assistance of the Jacksonville Police Department.
“This is what we deal with everyday with regard to the diversion and illegal selling of prescription medication," said Sheriff Asa Buck. "The dealers are getting a lot of their supply out-of-county and our bringing it back here to sell. We receive information and follow up on that information and are able to make these types of arrests."
Miranda Lawrence, age 22 of Newport, was arrested on opium charges and was locked up under a $150,000 secured bond.
Michael Lawrence, age 27 of Salter Path, faces similar charges as well as failure to appear in court and was locked up under a $258,000 secured bond.
Ricardo Hill, age 24 of Stella, also faces opium charges and was locked up on a $250,000 secured bond.
