While some military members just got back from one deployment, another group prepares to leave for a tour.

On Wednesday, Cherry Point marines with the Marine Aircraft Group 40 put their boots back on American soil after a deployment to Afghanistan.

As Cherry Point marines settled back in, marines and sailors at Camp Lejeune packed up.

Camp Lejeune officials said around noon on Thursday, marines with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit prepared for their deployment.

Lejeune said those with the 26th would first head to Norfolk, Virginia to board ships with the Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group.

From Norfolk, an article in the Marine Corps Times said the marines would head toward the Navy's 5th and 6th fleet areas, which include the Middle East, Persian Gulf, and Mediterranean Sea.

No word yet on how long the 26th MEU's deployment will last.
