The American Red Cross is preparing for Hurricane Sandy and urges Eastern North Carolina residents to do the same.
The Coastal Carolina and Onslow area Red Cross is reviewing plans and recruiting volunteers and urges you to keep up to date on Sandy's progress, and if you are anywhere near the path, have a disaster kit ready, fill up your gas tank now, and bring in anything outside that can be blown around by wind.
There's also a free Red Cross hurricane app with weather alerts and a toolkit with a flashlight, strobe light and alarm.
