All the rain we had in Eastern Carolina this year means a bad harvest for pumpkin farmers.
Mickey Simmons planted 20 acres of all types of pumpkins and gourds this year in Carteret County and says thousands are full of water and moldy. He says they've harvested just 50 good pumpkins.
Simmons tells us he and his business partner have roughly $1,000 an acre invested in the pumpkins that were destroyed.
Simmons says they will buy pumpkins from around the state and provide them to stands like the Friendly Market as they do every year.
