Polar Vortex Brings New Record Cold Temperatures

The polar vortex that blew into Eastern Carolina caused more than temperatures to tumble. Record low temperatures also fell in several places across Eastern Carolina.

Both Kinston and Washington set new records with readings of 14°. The previous record for Kinston was set in 1969 at 15, while Washington broke a 2010 record low of 25°.

New Bern also marked a new record low of 17°, shattering its old record of 23 set in 2010.

Manteo had a record low of 17, while Morehead City set a new record there with 18 degrees.
