POLICE: Boat Owners May Be Charged With Felonious Littering

Calling all boat owners! If you had a boat tied up in Town Creek or Taylor's Creek in Beaufort before Hurricane Irene you should probably come and claim it.

Beaufort police say there are numerous sunken and abandoned boats in the two creeks, others that actually washed ashore after the storm. Many of the sunken boats have been there for more than a year.

Police say they want to give owners enough time to remove them, but say if the boats aren't removed then the owners will be charged with felonious littering.

Boat owners should contact Beaufort police at 252-728-4561 to make sure they get ample time to remove them.
