MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. (AP) - A senior living apartment building in Carteret County is giving its residents until the end of the month to move out because the owners say "economic events" have led them to close it.
The owners of Harborview Towers in Morehead City confirm the building is slated to close August 30th. Harborview Towers has about 50 units and is currently occupied by approximately 25 residents aged between the mid-80s to a resident who's 102.
John "Ron" Jernigan, president of Harborview Enterprises, said in a statement that the company has pursued ways to continue operations, including a sale of the property, but there's been no solution.
