A Swansboro man is arrested after he led police on a high speed chase and then fled on foot.
Cape Carteret police say they caught 49-year-old Timothy Shilstone of Swansboro going 76 in a 45 mph zone on Taylor Notion Road around 9 a.m. Saturday.
An officer then went to stop Shilstone, but he sped away. They Shilstone he passed several cars then got onto Highway 58 where he past seven other cars. He eventually sped down VFW road, then stopped at a home at Cedar Breeze Mobile Home Park, got out of his car, and fled on foot.
Police along with Highway Patrol were able to arrest Shilstone within 15 minutes.
Shilstone is charged with speeding, aggressive driving, DWI, driving while license revoked and permanently suspended, felony fleeing to elude, and resisting arrest.
Police say alcohol was involved and Shilstone has several previous DWI charges.
Shilstone was placed in jail under a $5,000 secured bond.
According to jail records Shilstone is now out of jail after posting bond.
