A man who police say pushed another driver off a high-rise bridge in Carteret County has been found guilty of second degree murder.
A jury this afternoon also convicted Aaron McGarva of felony hit and run. The 23-year-old was sentenced to serve between 11 and 14 years in prison after the verdict.
The accident happened last April on the bridge over the Intracoastal Waterway between Morehead City and Beaufort.
The district attorney says McGarva was traveling more than 100 miles per hour and impaired when he rear-ended a pick-up truck driven by 63-year-old William Knott, Jr. Knott was killed after his truck was forced over the bridge railing and into the Newport River.
The jury got the case this morning.
