A 20-year-old man is jailed after deputies say he raped a 14-year-old girl. When he was arrested, deputies say they found the victim still with the man.
Matthew Steagall of Newport was arrested by Carteret County deputies Sunday and charged with statutory rape.
Deputies say a concerned family member notified them after they say Steagall was caught engaging in sexual activity with the teen.
Steagall has a first court appearance today and his bond was set at $30,000.
