Crystal Coast beaches were crowded on Independence Day. The breeze at Fort Macon kept the beach comfortable as the heat picked up Wednesday to hit the mid-90s. For those who got too hot, the ocean was a great place to cool off. People we spoke with were from all over the east, but everyone said they came to the beach to be with family and friends on the 4th.

"Just the atmosphere brings us together and celebrate our great country," said Paul Waligora.

The annual Atlantic Beach celebration is underway and goes through July 9th and includes a water slide and amusement rides.
