While some may say, “Drill baby drill,” others say, “Windmills, not oil spills.”
Many people gathered at Fort Macon State Park for a peaceful protest against offshore drilling off the North Carolina coast.
It was one of many protests that took place Saturday across the county called 'Hands Across the Sand.'
The protestors say they want the government to focus on clean renewable resources like wind and solar energy instead of drilling for oil.
Robert Sculls says, "If we had offshore drilling I’m sure there would eventually be some problems, you really don’t need it, there are other forms of energy that are renewable, there’s also solar."
Eva Jones says, "We focus a lot on short term solutions instead of looking toward the future and we definitely have so much potential for renewable energy and we should definitely invest in that."
