The excitement is building for the 54th annual Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament along the coast.
Teams are continuing to sign up for the tournament that boosts the local economy and gives back to the community.
At the Big Rock headquarters along the Morehead City waterfront workers were busy Thursday answering phone calls and registering teams for this year's tournament.
Crystal Hesmer, director of the tournament, says they're excited for it and looking forward to giving back to the community. Hesmer says, "The tournament exists to give back to our community and our charities. We have given over 2-million-dollars to our area local and state charities since the inception of Big Rock and hope to do much more."
The tournament kicks off this weekend with a lady anglers event The men's tournament starts Monday and runs through June 16th.
Hesmer says more than 100 anglers are signed up so far vying for hundreds of thousands in prize money.
