Former Raleigh Mayor Takes Over State Ports, Industrial Park Operations

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- A former Raleigh mayor, state transportation secretary and chairman of North Carolina's chamber of commerce will temporarily oversee all operations at the state ports and a state-owned industrial park in Lenoir County.

Transportation Secretary Gene Conti announced Friday that Tom Bradshaw is taking the new post of statewide logistics coordinator on an interim basis until a permanent coordinator is named.

Starting next week, Bradshaw will manage what's going at the state ports in Wilmington, Morehead City and inland terminals in addition to the Global TransPark. DOT says Bradshaw also will work with the department on coordinating those activities with other DOT projects.

Bradshaw was Raleigh mayor in the early 1970s and was transportation secretary in Gov. Jim Hunt's first term.
