Deputies say a landlord was stabbed with a sword after he went to collect rent from his tenant.
Andrew Willis is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury after his arrest Wednesday.
Carteret County deputies say Claude Steffen got into an argument with Willis when he tried to collect the rent on Chatham Street in Newport. They say Willis retreated inside the home and then came out with the sword, allegedly slashing his landlord across the stomach.
Steffen is listed in good condition at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
Willis was caught by Morehead City police about 30 minutes after the stabbing. The 29-year-old man's bond was set at $30,000.
