Controlled Burn Creates Smoky Conditions In Carteret County

If you're in Carteret County and are seeing smoke and ash, officials say don't worry. The smoke is from a control burn in the area.

Officials say two thousand acres are being burned in the Croatan National Forest near 9 Mile Rd. and Millis Rd.

They say the Forest Service does a control burn like this in the area every year to burn underbrush.

Any idea how long this burn will go on? The air gets really nasty and yesterday the ocean looked orange as the sun shone through the smoke. Weird.
