The Coast Guard responded to a call of an injured man aboard a cargo ship off the coast of North Carolina.
The Coast Guard was notified Monday night that a passenger aboard the Svendborg had fallen and suffered head trauma about 30 miles east of Morehead City. The injured man was hoisted from the 266-foot cargo ship to a Jayhawk helicopter and taken to Carteret General Hospital in Morehead City.
Crews from Elizabeth City and Fort Macon responded to the rescue.
