The Coast Guard says that a sailboat captain is safe after being rescued from waters 7 miles east of Cape Lookout Saturday.
Officials say a crewmember aboard the 31-foot sailboat, Warrior’s Wish, contacted the Coast Guard that their 60-year-old captain had fallen into the water and was in need of assistance.
The Coast Guard dispatched 2 boats and a MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter to the scene.
A motor life boat crew arrived on scene around 10:50 p.m. and retrieved the captain from the water and began towing the Warrior’s Wish to Fort Macon.
The captain was said to have been wearing a life jacket, and no injuries were reported.
