Two people were helped to safety after their 16-foot catamaran capsized near Emerald Isle Wednesday afternoon.
The U.S. Coast Guard says the call came in around 1:00 p.m. reporting two people in the water.
Two Coast Guard boats went to help, and fortunately the two on the catamaran were both wearing their life jackets. "If these guys weren't wearing their life jackets, it could have been a much worse situation due to the high winds and sea state," said Petty Officer 2nd Class Trey Thompson. "It probably saved their lives."
The woman on the catamaran was put on a Coast Guard boat, while a towline was put on the capsized catamaran to flip it right side up. The catamaran was then escorted back to its mooring.
No one was injured, according to the Coast Guard.
