Cherry Point Marines Deploy To Afghanistan

Hundreds of Cherry Point marines are preparing to leave for the war in Afghanistan Friday.

More than 270 marines will deploy from Havelock to replace other marines from Air Control Group 28 who have been in Afghanistan for seven months.

This latest group to go overseas does so during a deadly week for U.S. troops in Afghanistan. The chopper crash last weekend killed 30, and NATO says five more Americans were killed in Afghanistan Thursday.
