The days are numbered for a winning $200,000 lottery ticket purchased here in Eastern Carolina.
The Powerball ticket, purchased for the December 22nd drawing, becomes worthless on June 20th. The winning ticket was purchased at the Handy Mart on Arendall Street in Morehead City. It matched five white balls, but not the Power Ball in the drawing. The numbers were 11-33-44-46-47.
To claim the $200,000, the ticket must be presented at North Carolina Education Lottery headquarters in Raleigh by 5:00 p.m. on the 20th.
Lottery officials hope that getting the word out about the expiring ticket will lead to a claimed ticket and a happy winner. In 2009, a Winterville man had less than two full business days left before his $200,000 Powerball ticket was set to expire.
