Carteret County Church Latest To Be Hit By Copper Thieves

A sheriff's office in the east is looking for suspects in a recent theft from a church.

Tuesday morning at the Faith Evangelical Bible Church in Newport a church elder found two of their air conditioning units had been torn apart for their copper.

The Carteret County Sheriff's Office says they have been advising businesses, churches and even residents to take extra security measures like building fences and adding cameras on the outside of their buildings for months.

In the past year, between wire, air conditioning units, and air conditioning parts, there had been hundreds of thefts in Carteret County.

The search for suspects continues.
