Carteret County Escapes Major Damage From Hurricane Sandy

Carteret County took a hit from Hurricane Sandy as she passed through this weekend, but emergency management says there have been no reports of people being injured or homes flooded.

Hurricane Sandy was a category one storm when passing well off the coast of the down east area impacting places like Cedar Island with rain and storm surge.

Residents say that usually the stretch of Highway 12 floods easily when hurricanes affect the area.

While there were no flooded home, you can definitely tell that a hurricane impacted Cedar Island this weekend by just looking at how much water the residents are dealing with.

The Sea Level community near Cedar Island had some high water, but no streets were flooded.
