CAUGHT ON CAMERA: Man Steals Electrical Panel

Deputies say they have new information about the theft of an electrical panel caught on camera.

Carteret County deputies say the man in the video drove up to the Minute to Win It on Cedar Point Boulevard in Cedar Point last Tuesday morning. The thief parked his vehicle and then steals the electrical panel right off the side of the building after cutting a wire.

Deputies now say that vehicle is a 2011 Toyota Corolla LE, not a Camry. They said the vehicle had a Department of Defense sticker on its front windshield, but are unable to read anything from the sticker.

Investigators are checking with area Toyota dealerships to see if they sold a similar vehicle to anyone this year.

Anyone who knows the identity of the man is urged to call the Carteret County Sheriff's Office at 252-504-4815 or Crime-Stoppers at 252-726-INFO.

I have to agree with (this makes the news) WITN your news reporting is pretty bad lately...and just for the record there was a bad accident on highway 11 on Sunday with a Winterville cop directing traffic to turn around...two cars that we saw involved in the accident and pretty bad that we could see, and not one story reported by WITN...this was in your BACKYARD and still could not report it. This happened in the afternoon not the one you reported in Lenoir County at night....so get real WITN with your reporting!

Some guy steals the cover to an electrical panel and it makes the news? What's the value on that cover, maybe $30? Jeesh, surprised it didn't make the national news. I think the more interesting story would be why on earth would he bother stealing a $30 panel. Look at the car he's driving, doesn't look like he's hurting financially. My guess is that he's an electrical contractor who didn't get paid for a job and wanted to get even. Would be interesting to hear what he has to say...

What should be done is call all the electrical company providers, could have needed a cover to have a serviced turned on. Prob did not have match for his old damaged one at electrical parts place so he went and stole one. Theory B he stole it for the aluminum. C he is just an idiot.

It's the cover door from a meter base. Nobody stole an electrical panel in this video. But the removal of the cover might leave an electrocution hazard for the general public if conductors inside are energized and exposed.

He didn't take a whole electrical panel. Look at the video; All he took was the cover off of the meter panel. The round cutout in the metal piece that he is carrying goes around the electrical meter.
