A new plaza project in Morehead City received some finishing touches Wednesday.
A 17-foot leaping blue marlin was attached to the fountain on property called the "Jib" Wednesday morning.
The project has been in the making for 14-years.
The monument was created in honor of the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament and the tournament's weigh station could me moved to this location near 8th street by next year.
The sculpture was modeled after the world record blue marlin catch.
The names of previous big rock winners were etched in the base portion of the monument.
Water should be added to the fountain sometime next week.
Morehead City paid for $400,000 of the fountain, the Big Rock Tournament donated the sculpture and $50,000 towards the monument.
