Damage Evident On The Crystal Coast

The last holiday weekend of the summer is knocking on our door just a week after hurricane Irene moved through the east.

There's still evidence of the damage she left behind on the Crystal Coast, the Sheraton is closed until September 6th for repairs.

Other hotels are open and some are sold out, like the Seahawk. The beaches have some erosion but on Atlantic Beach there is still plenty of sand.

Visitors say although the beach looks different it's still worth it to visit.

The Bogue Inlet fishing pier plans to rebuild this winter and reopen fully by Spring of 2012.

Let the private money do it; if they can't or won't it probably isn't worth it. Let the open real estate market determine if people want to invest their money on a sandpile that is continually shifting and eroding according to the natural forces.
