Four Vehicle Crash Backs Up Traffic On Highway 24

A four vehicle accident is slowing down traffic on Highway 24, west of Morehead City.

The wreck happened at the Hibbs Road intersection and one vehicle overturned. Eastbound traffic on Highway 24 has been slowed down because of the crash.

Troopers say an SUV was heading east on Hibbs Road and the driver switched lanes, trying to make the stoplight. She rear-ended one vehicle at 60 miles per hour, according to the Highway Patrol. That vehicle flipped with two people inside. Two other vehicles were side-swiped in the accident.

Three people were transported to Carteret General, but troopers say their injuries are not critical.

Troopers say charges are pending against Jacqueline Lewis of Newport.

Pete, why don't you report her then? If what you say is true, she's a danger to everyone on the road, including you.

Everyday I see people run redlights, pass in the turn lane, drive too fast and do so many stupid things in their car. And sometimes it's just regular people not cops doing it.

If only I could be a traffic cop for one week. I would rid some of these idiot drivers from the road. A lot of people on the road, that really don't need to be there. Hope every will be okay.

Speed Kills, and maybe the jerk driving the SUV that tried to make the green light will personally find that out one day. I hope his insurance rate goes out of the roof after this!

I was at the scene today and actually saw what happened. This person who caused the accident was not on hibbs rd, but however on 24 heading towards morehead. this person also did not switch lanes, it was a pure case of not paying attention and caused an accident! please get your facts right. I saw the whole thing!!!!!
