Swimming Advisory For Site In Carteret County

A swimming advisory has been issued for a soundside site on the Crystal Coast.

State officials say the bacteria level is too high at an area at the Cape Lookout Park service dock near Barden Inlet in Carteret County. Test results indicate a running monthly average of 41 enterococci per 100 milliliters of water. This exceeds state and Environmental Protection Agency’s recreational water quality standards.

The advisory is not a beach closing, nor does it affect the entire Cape Lookout area. Officials will keep testing to see when the bacteria level is safe again.

If someone wanted to go swimming in the area, so they decided to put a bunch of bleach in the water to kill the bacteria. "I wuz jest makin' de warter safe fer my yunguns!" Just a wildly sarcastic remark. Not trying to degrade the story or it's fine writer. My favorite news lady.
