Teens Charged With Trying To Burn Home Down

Two teens are accused of trying to burn down a vacant home in their neighborhood early Tuesday morning.

Wes Clevenger and Marcel James, both who are 16-years-old, are charged with throwing Molotov cocktails at the home on Champion Drive in Morehead City. The two are also accused of spraying porch decorations by lighting a can of WD-40.

A man driving home noticed the flames around 2:00 a.m. and called 911. While waiting for the fire department the man put out the fire using a nearby yard hose.

Once on the scene, authorities spotted a second fire about a half mile away. There they found a shirt and other material on fire in the road. Deputies say a short time later a police officer saw two people on the front porch of James' home with a gas can and two rags. At first the two denied any involvement, but later cooperated with detectives and gave them an account of what happened.

Clevenger and James were charged with attempted second degree arson and placed on jail on $5,000 bonds.

She is a Senior in High School with a 4.2 g.p.a. taking A.P. English, Precalculus,Trig,US History getting ready to take A.P. English Lit, A.P. Calculus. She will be able to graduate early because of all of her credits. She's working 7 days a week this summer to either put a down payment on a car, or put towards college tuition. She can say 'hell' if she wants too! Had she dropped the 'F' bomb, her father or I would have put our foot up her rear end.

When I was 10 years old, I asked my mother, "How old do I have to be to use curse/swear words?"...Mom said, "Oh dear! You're never old enough!"...then I said, "But daddy does it all the time." She told me he knows better and "he only does it when he's upset." I found out that this was false and even mom would curse sometimes. My whole family uses profanity, but we never take the lord's name in vain. Wilma & Madea, don't take these people's comments to heart...I've found that even the most upstanding preacher swears occasionally...even MHC does (but won't admit it)...Hell hath no fury.....

What do you mean we shouldn't judge these kids or what some of these kids go through? I had a rough childhood but I didn't do stupid things like this. I've been beaten with a belt, switch, tobacco stick, and didn't do anything that terrible to get those kind of beatings. I've been mentally and verbally abused and my step-dad has pointed a gun at me on numerous occassions but I never did anything like this for attention. It's time for people to accept responsibility for their actions and quit blaming it on their parents or society. I worked 40 hours a week when I was 16, graduated from high school with a B average, and when I turned 18, I left home without looking back. I have been a productive member of society by volunteering as a fire fighter, I've been a foster parent, and currently work in management at a reputable company with only a high school degree. I hate when people make excuses.

Some people don't understand what some kids or people go through. It is sad that they put down people and don't know the whole story. I am sorry this young man lost the only person he had in his life. Maybe you can help him get the help he needs. I wish people would stop judging and talking about how better their kids are than someone elses and start saying positive things and praying things will get better. And Madea your kid said Hell no Oh so it is okay if she uses profanity. You are pathetic.

Wes Clevinger's dad died a few months ago. Mom has never been around. I can't speak about the other kid because I don't know anything about him, but Wes has had a very hard few months. I'm not excusing what he did. He needs help.

to Wilma: You go girl! While I was reading your story aloud, my dear husband turned to my 17 year old daughter and asked," Are you ever gonna try to sneak out at 2am?" My daughter responded," Hell No!" Children are born seeking out limits, boundaries, and rules. It's up to us adults to teach them. If we don't lay down the rules of respect in our own homes, our children will never learn to respect others. We are doing a grave injustice to these young men. They should not be allowed out on the street.

Bring back the chain gang just for these two, cutting a ditch bank with a bush hook for about two years may help. But don't count on it. Or maybe some time in Angola down in La..there everybody works in the fields, they don't sit on their butt all day.
