Boy Medevaced From Cape Lookout

The Coast Guard medevaced a 6-year-old boy Friday night after he fell from a ladder and hit his head aboard a 58-foot sport fisher anchored near Cape Lookout National Seashore in Lookout Bight.

The Coast Guard called Sector North Carolina watchstanders with their cell phone at 6:55 p.m. and reported that the boy fell from a four-foot ladder and injured his head. He was having problems moving part of his body and the watchstanders sent a Station Fort Macon 25-foot response boat crew and two Atlantic Beach Fire Department paramedics to bring the boy safely to shore.

The boy was put on a backboard and secured his head and neck before attempting to transport him. They transferred him to the Coast Guard boat and brought he and his parents to shore where EMS were waiting.

EMS transported him to Carteret General Hospital in Morehead City for further treatment.

I prayed when the ambulance took him by while I was riding my bike. I had a bad feeling it was a child, Lord bless this boy.
