One Million Dollars In Pot Plants Found In Carteret County

Hundreds of marijuana plants have been discovered in Carteret County. In fact the sheriff says it is one of the largest discovery of pot plants in recent years.

Authorities say a state Highway Patrol helicopter located four plots of marijuana plants in the middle of a pine field off Wetherington Landing Road Wednesday.

Officials say once they reached the plots by foot they uncovered almost 13-hundred marijuana plants, some of them were as tall as six-feet high.

Authorities say if the plants were allowed to fully mature they would have an estimated street value of $1 million.

They'll never "nab the dope addict criminals" Jim, they never do, they won't stop to see who's tending it before they rush in and destroy the plot and claim a victory in the failed "war on drugs."

To LEO: If you guys have the money to fly choppers and planes all the time and keep them up. I don't see why you can't observe the plot for a week to see if anyone comes up. You guys keep fighting the symptoms and not the problems. I'd prefer you guys spend all that money on the meth problem myself. It's a problem much bigger than MJ will ever be. So you guys keep flying your aircraft and finding the plots and never the perps. Your job is to arrest or cite people who break the law. You guys won't hang around to find out who you need to arrest. You just march in, destroy it, and act like you won a battle in the "war on drugs" which has really been more like a prolonged skirmish. The tide is turning. People are seeing that MJ is not the horrible drug that the govt has wanted us to think it is. While I don't think that people should be smoking it in public, it should be something legal to possess and use on your personal property or designated areas like alcohol in a bar.

I see many uneducated remarks from both sides in here, from people who have obviously smoked themselves stupid (and that is their choice) to people who have the mentality "Having never tried or researched MJ the govt says it is bad so it must be bad" (which is just plain ignorance), just a bunch of zombies following everything big brother says. The govt also felt back in the 20's & 30's that alchol should be illegal hence prohibition (how did that work out?). Point is they can be wrong. Before spouting off PLEASE do some research both as to the effects of MJ and to why it is illegal in the first place. Project for you.... google Harry Anslinger he is to MJ what Molly Hatchet was to prohibition (THE WHY). Seconly google the LaGaurdia Commission reports a govt (SUPRISE) run study as to the negative (and not so negative) effects of MJ. In these times we should find a way to make money for a country in peril not spend silly amounts of money fighting a plant that is not all that bad.

Anon at 6:18pm: IDGIT is a colloquialism. Perhaps instead of "Anon" you should go by the name of "Peter Pedantic". See, I could give a witty yet mean retort here to your post without calling childish names like you. Are you drunk? Is this why you are acting mean? And is this why your posting acumen is so limited? Are you going to have to look up some of the definitions of the words in this post? Or are you too lazy to do this due to your impairment?
