DEPUTIES: Man Stabbed Over $80 Debt

Two men are charged with a stabbing Wednesday night at a Carteret County park.

Eric Freeman, Jr. is charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury while Corey Conley is charged with accessory after the fact for driving Freeman from the stabbing.

Deputies say 19-year-old Timothy Shoaf was stabbed twice in the stomach at a community park in Broad Creek. They say the stabbing was apparently over an $80 debt that Shoaf owed to Freeman.

Both Newport men were arrested at Freeman's home and placed in jail on $10,000 secured bonds.
