The State Ports Authority has had an informal conference with the State Labor Department over a fine for an accident in Morehead City.
Thursday was the deadline for the authority to decide whether it would appeal, request the conference or pay the $2750 fine for the January 12th haz-mat accident.
Ports Authority spokeswoman Shannon Moody says they met with OSHA and reviewed training records with them. She said they are waiting a decision.
In May, the Ports Authority was given one serious violation when nine containers of the explosive material PETN leaked at the port. The citation says first responders at the port did not have sufficient training or experience to act as a site control coordinator for spills or leaks and remain in charge until relieved by authorized personnel.
