NEW INFO: Power Restored To Thousands In Carteret County

Power has been restored to thousands of Progress Energy customers in Carteret County.

The utility says 13,600 customers in Morehead City, Beaufort and rural parts of Carteret County were without power. The outage began around 3:10 p.m. and was caused when lightning struck a transmission tower.

Progress says all power was restored at 3:56 p.m.

Havelock says power there was out in several sections of the city. Several traffic signals were not working. Power problems there have also been fixed.

    We didn't get power back till 6:30pm!!! and we are with Carteret Craven Electric!
