New Baseball Team In The East

The Morehead City Marlins kicked their season off Wednesday and their home opener was Friday night against the Fayetteville Swampdogs. The Marlins are part of the Coastal Plains League, a summer wooden bat league featuring college players.

The Marlins came away with two wins in each of their first two games as a coastal plain league franchise. Crews spent the Friday working to get the multimillion-dollar big rock stadium ready. Officials say more than 1100 tickets were pre-sold for the 1500 seat stadium. And it all is a fresh new look at the coast that could reel in plenty of tourism dollars.

'Baseball' is right; let's focus on a positive for a change. I love the name they chose; the Marlins. Has a nice 'splash' to it. I hope they do well.

Lets start having local teams in every city! (a few name ideas) The Greenville Gangstas? The Rocky Mount Robbers? The Kinston Kllers? The Washington Well-Fareers? The Vanceboro Violence? The Jacksonville Junkies? The Tarboro Thugs? Any other ideas?

Hey , we can't get a decent major league baseball team round here, so I guess one more boring farm team can fade into mediocrity. And like anonymous pointed out , It's the first I've heard of it too.
