Two teens are accused of doing more than $5,000 in damages in an overnight crime spree at the beach.
Emerald Isle police say Jessie Farmer and Garrett Staggs, both who are 16 years old, are charged with multiple felony and misdemeanor charges that stem from the burglary of one business and multiple counts of vandalism.
Police say Monday they received reports of vehicles in the Sea Oats subdivision being vandalized with spray paint. While investigating the vandalism, police discovered that the Pacific Superstore had been broken into overnight. Money and merchandise was taken and police say they found things at the scene which led them to Farmer and Staggs.
Police say the teens used two stolen bicycles to move between various crime scenes. Both were placed in the Carteret County jail under a custody release to the parents, which means that the only way that they can be released is for their parents to sign them out.
