Sea Level Rising

15 to 55 inches is how much higher the Sea Level along our coast is expected to rise by the year 2100.

The findings come from the State Coastal Resources Commission Science Panel on Coastal Hazards.

The report recommends the adoption of one meter or 39 inches of Sea Level rise as a rate for future policy development and planning purposes.

It also suggests installing additional tide gauges in the coast and the continued maintenance and upgrading of the existing ones.

The way I see it, if the sea level rises enough, the yankees will give the land back to the poor, And then once again we will have poor people livin on and near the water, making their living off the land and sea. The world is round, what goes around, comes around.

Guess what... we're all right~~ Here's how: Yes, the ocean levels are rising. Yes, it's related to global warming. Now, is global warming the 'threat' that politicians are making it out to be? No. They are simply using a natural Earth cycle (all very scientific... read your fifth grade school books, please) as a scare tactic to part their constituents from their money. The world has cooled/warmed like this for eons. The present NC coastline has been under millions of gallons of seawater at one time like someone here stated. It receded and will one day return DUE to climate change caused by the natural convection cycles of the Earth. That is scientific knowledge. Some of us are smart enough to know that the current legislation on the table/Al Gore junk is politicians wanting to figure out yet another way to get in our back pockets, even if they have to scare you with what you should already know. The govt. has always operated on the stupidity of the people. This is no different.

"darren" - that comment was not meant for the ones who live there and deal with the natural changes that take place. what i meant to say was, tax dollars are spent to fight mother nature in that area ever year and most of that money is pulled in by big money, big business owners whom want to keep the little 2 week a year vacation home right on the beach. if you live there i'm sure its not setting at sea level and you have figured out a way of life that works just fine. its the buttholes that take my tax money and drive up homeowner ins's that drive me crazy! ty darren for making me explain myself!!!

Ha I love MrT's idea!!! It is amazing that anybody would still believe in the global warming hoax when one of the grand architects sheepishly admitted there has been no warming in the past 15 years. How can there still be warming when the people that cooked it up admitted there has been no warming? Of course people like algore have far too much invested in this to just let it die. It nothing more than a tax scheme.

I guarantee that these findings have come from some manipulated numbers before they came out. As a citizen of the Outer Banks who was raised down here, who has been fishing all over these waters, I know for a fact that the sea level is no higher than it was 20 years ago, and I doubt that it will get any higher AT ALL anytime soon. I can tell by the spots on the ground and the trees that it has gone NOWHERE. To dry in pitt co, back off that dumb comment, beach not for living my behind. JR, the Outer Banks is not going anywhere. This Global Warming talk is a joke and is intended to have more money spent just to get the tax dollars into the pockets of these politicians.

I just wonder, yes, thats right, good science is validating the claims with sound research and evidence. You are correct, there hasn't been any, it was made up and you believed it. There is no evidence of climate change, everything is cyclic. The peer review you mention, was purposefully not done in the attempt to hide the read data. Now, go do some are so uninformed. Learn about climategate, Al Gore, who makes money selling carbon way he would be vested in this right???? No one, can be that naieve.

Liberals and progressives have cost the United States tax payer so much money that it is staggering. Quit making stuff up because you crave attention. Grow up and live in the real world for God's sake. My bad, liberals don't believe in God.

All of you who refute the claims of global warming, do you have any evidence to the contrary other than saying people who support global warming are wrong? Part of good science is validating your claims with sound research an evidence. I have yet to see anyone on the "anti climate change" side come forward with evidence that suggests that the earth is not warming. While there is reason to question recent research into climate change, at least they are trying to prove their point instead of sitting back and just denying people who say it does not exist. The evidence is overwhelming in favor of climate change and until someone comes forward with peer-reviewed research that suggest otherwise then I am going to continue to accept the science that a warming earth is driving more extreme weather. I think it is important to educate yourself as opposed to listening to talking points (ON BOTH SIDES). Take responsibility for what you are preaching and do a little scientific reading!

Steve, the progressives are still pushing this Al Gore lie that was exposed at Copenhagen. Al Gore even dissappeared. Folks, this is the unending battle to go after your tax money in the name of climate change, global warming and global cooling. It is the biggest scam since John Edwards affair and Tiger Woods, yet progressives are still ignoring their bust. You need to stand up against this nonsense by the AP. I would have been ashamed to even report this story.
