State BOE Won't Renew Cape Lookout Charter

The State Board of Education has voted not to renew the charter for a school in Morehead City.

Cape Lookout Marine Science Charter High School's two year charter renewal will be up at the end of this school year. The 130 students will now have to be adsorbed back into the public school system next year.

The state board said it had major concerns over the school's academic performance and that the school was no longer focused on marine science -- instead most of its students had become at risk.

Cape Lookout, which is on Bridges Street, began in 2005. The state says another factor is that the school's lease expires in 2011 and there are no plans beyond that date.

Im sure the Martin Co., BOE has already contacted their people in Raleigh, especially after the comment M.Matthews made last monday night at the board mtg. Once again he stuck his foot in his mouth. Its not too late for BG either, the building hasn't closed yet!!!And trust me we know how fast they are working to close it. But until the doors are locked it ain't over for BG!!!

The reason that they won't mess wiyh Ozzy is because he is of color. Haven't you noticed that color is what is leading this state in state employment and schools. Just like Jesse Helms' old campaign commercials " He was Qualified (the white guy) but he was black ( the black guy who got the job). So unfair but if we don't rise up as Caucasions then we are to blame. Look at Cupcake Perdue, hires two uneducated minorities to run DOC and Public safety, come on.

You might get it, but it will be too late. Once the buildings are closed they must be brought up to code before being used again. And trust me, they will be closed quickly. I don't think you guys have the amount of money needed for that!!!
