After a two month campaign by police, two store owners have been charged with selling alcohol and tobacco to minors.
Saima Sheikh was charged with four counts of illegal sales of alcohol to minors and four counts of illegal sales of tobacco to minors. Masood Sheikh was charged with one count of illegal sale of alcohol to minors and one count of illegal sales of tobacco to minors. The two own M&S Convenience Store on Lennoxville Road in Beaufort.
Beaufort police say over a two month period detectives conducted surveillance and used informants to purchase alcohol and tobacco products. They say M&S was the only store that sold the products to minors.
Police say they'll continue to randomly check for violations at all establishments in Beaufort which sell alcohol and tobacco products.
