Most ferries are returning to normal runs, after high winds Wednesday forced many to stop operating.
The Hatteras route began its normal schedule at 5:00 a.m.; while Bayview-Aurora resumed regular operations at 7:00 a.m. The state says Swan Quarter will make its 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. runs to Ocracoke. After a temporary suspension Wednesday night, the Cherry Branch-Minnesott Beach route returned to normal Thursday morning.
The Cedar Island-Ocracoke route is running an adjusted schedule Thursday due to damage to the Motor Vessel Pamlico by Wednesday's storm. A wave broke the hinges on a bow door and maintenance crews are currently working to make repairs.
There will be a 10:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. run from Ocracoke to Cedar Island and a 2:00 p.m. run from Cedar Island to Ocracoke. Operations there will return to normal, as soon as the ferry is repaired.
