Insurance Agent Admits To Embezzlement

An insurance agent will have to serve a year of electronic house arrest and four years of supervised probation after her guilty plea in Lenoir County.

Terri Lynn Spence of Emerald Isle pleaded guilty to five counts of embezzlement by an insurance agent. The 34-year-old woman was also ordered to pay $46,733 in restitution and court fees.

Spence was arrested by Department of Insurance investigators and La Grange police in June 2008 for embezzlement and obtaining property by false pretense.

According to the investigation, there were 43 victims and 16 insurance companies affected by the embezzlement. The state says most of the policies were homeowners insurance and workers compensation.

Sounds like you are personally involved with the girl. Hopefully this whole deal has taught her, and you, a valuable lesson. It's wrong to steal from people. When you get your own life in order, then you can judge others. It doesn't feel so good living a normal joe life does it ?

I love to read the garbage that you ill-informed uneducated hicks post about other people. I bet the whole time your blogging and posting your little digs you have your radio turned up playing "Dirty Laundry" by Don Henley. That's right, kick em when their up and kick em when there down!!! She got hers and still is as it's my understanding...the fact that so many of you still are concerned is amazing that you have nothing better to do with your lives!! Pathetic!

I still wonder did her husband know she was doing this ? He was driving the Porsche and the Alfa Romeo before that. He had to know they had excess money coming in.

To Fireproof: You should save your advice for this woman who swindled innocent people out of their money. They are the real victims here, not this woman. Do you not consider what she did harsh and cruel? If you were one of her victims, I think you'd feel differently. Sometimes people get exactly what they deserve when they do wrong to others. In your own words, "it comes home to you." Sometimes a liar is a liar and a thief is a thief...plain and simple. It is what it is. When people commit these types of crimes, they deserve to be called what they are.

She and her husband were living large, putting on a huge show, on the backs of hard working Americans. I have no sympathy. She should have done jail time.

You know it's ashamed when people are so harsh and cruel. Try playing in your yard before you start playing in others. There is one thing you can believe the amount of judgment you past down to others it comes home to you. So don't get caught in the crossfire. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
