College Students Take A Dip In The Sound

It was a beautiful day across eastern North Carolina Wednesday - but not exactly swimming weather.

That didn't stop a group of Carteret Community College students and faculty from taking the plunge.

A group of them dove right into Bogue Sound to raise awareness and money for environmental projects at the college.

The chilly dip was organized by the college's sustainability committee and the event raised money for the college's green initiative fund, which will be used for recycling and renewable energy projects on campus.

Perhaps these students should abandon the quest for higher education and embark on a quest for common sense. It might serve them better in the long run.
