School System Looking To The Future

Carteret County School System says it's looking to the future, and needs help planning for it.

All Carteret County residents are being asked to complete a survey online. There are surveys specifically for community or business members, parents and guardians, and even one for students in grades five through twelve. Employees of the school system will also be surveyed.

The surveys will be conducted through a service called Survey Monkey and are comepletely anonymous. Anyone without easy access to a computer can find hard copies of the surveys in each school office and at the school system's central services office in Beaufort. All surveys should be submitted online or mailed in as hard copies by January 15, 2010.

Click here to learn more and to take the survey.

GBHB: The Bible could fix your life.
  • by Just Saying Location: RMNC on Jan 15, 2010 at 12:44 AM
US citizen for now: I spanked my children when they needed it. Just yesterday a teacher called my wife and said my son had skipped class. We were ready to take him off the BB team, ground him off the phone, tv, cpu and ymca. As it turns out, the teacher was incorrect. Now, if my kid had of been spanked because of a teacher mistake, OH BOY. And I tell you something else, you never know what you're talking about in your posts. I wish you'd change your name to U S citizen no longer.

GBHB, your Stats? I'd like to see in detail and from whom? I'm sorry that you remain in the dark relating to acknowledging God and His relationship with man. You are so wrong regarding differences between statistics Godly & Un-Godly. Millions of Christians see first hand on a daily basis of how God turns things around for the better in their lives. He blesses those who Love Him and do His will. God is Love and it's sad that you don't know God or Love. You'll and billions of other lost ones will quickly realize who God is when He comes very soon. Every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ IS King of Kings & Lord of Lords! I hope you seek Him very soon GBHB. Asking Jesus into your heart as Lord & Savior will be the best thing you've ever done in your life. God Bless.

US Citizen for Now-stats also support that countries with a higher percentage of atheists tend to have more educated people and lower crime rates compared to highly religious countries. Many of the state's troubled students, teachers, and principles attend church and it has not benefitted them. I know of one school that actually has a Bible class as an elective and has been branded a "turn around" school by the NCDPI. Like I said, the Bible is not going to fix anything.

GBHB, you still think you're right? If you really want to see proof of this, google up and search the net for related topics on God and prayer in schools and the benefits including better grades, more respect for authority, less violence and mayhem and so on. Search back to the 1800's, 1900's all the way up to the 1970's when prayer was still in US school systems. Then compare those findings to the conditions now days. The resemblance is like black and white. Totally in the worse direction and failing ever since God, bible and prayer was taken out of the schools. Do the math and see yourself. I've been knowing this all along the last 30 years. Where have you been?

GBHB or one with HeeBeeGeeBee's, How can you say the Bible won't fix anything? Have you lost your sense of direction? Do you know where our law system derived from? Our basic law system. The Ten Commandments, that's where our laws relating to right from wrong came from. You're just skirting the truth and don't want correction by God. God gives us a Manual which humanity should live by in order to live in harmony. God is love and love is what holds the world together. Accountability and responsibility only comes from the Bible which is Gods word. Teaching children these things and many more issues relating to respect and doing the right thing in love is what needs to be done within our school system. You've embraced humanism, socialism and everything that atheists live by in society. Get rid of God and teaching the Bible, you've got total chaos within society and a dysfunctional school system full of disobedient students. Put God back in schools and the system will work perfectly GBHB!

Just Saying, I'm glad my parents corrected me by spanking my butt as well as allowing the school principal or assistant to do the same. These scriptures from God was given to us because children are born in sin and need this type of correction. WORDS & THREATS mean nothing and hold no value. Of course you should correct in love, showing them that you love them during the process. Read what many parents and school systems have forgotten regarding correcting our children. Proverbs 13:24 He who withholds his rod hates his son, But he who loves him disciplines him diligently. Proverbs 23:14 You shall beat him with the rod, and shall deliver his soul from hell. Proverbs 29:15 The rod and reproof give wisdom, But a child who gets his own way brings shame to his mother. The greatest ones in life were corrected by their parents this way. Crime & disobedience are byproducts from children who got their way and which weren't physically corrected or punished. Teachers should be fair as well.

education in the this state is in a mess. The only chance we have of saving education is by supporting teachers and giving them control of their classrooms, quit passing failing students to the next grade, stop with the crazy idea that all kids should go to college, and basically quit dreaming and wake up. Politicians have run education into the ground....Judge Manning, Perdue, DPI all of them. And bringing the bible into education will not fix anything.

Just Saying, you must be a youngster yourself. I grew up during the late 60's/70's and had received punishment either by getting a paddling on my butt, writing "I will not misbehave while in class" 1000 times or staying after school to do chores. None of these Ever effected me the wrong way. Those corrections which were given BY TEACHERS, worked wonderfully and helped mold me into a respectable, responsible Christian person. What do you think is going to happen to your kids if they get spanked? Kids now days need more correction & punishment than they did when I grew up. They're worse off now than then. Yes, teachers should be screened and graded on fairness etc.. Leaving the discipline up to parents doesn't work in most cases. Words mean nothing, it takes action. We use a bible that states: Prov 13:24 He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him diligently. Prov 23:14 Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell. Comprende?

US citizen for now: I tell you what, YOU TELL ME WHAT MY CHILD HAS DONE AND I'LL DETERMINE THE PUNISHMENT, NOT THE TEACHER. I have known teachers that were unfair and didn't belong in the class room or on the field as a coach. And what Bible do we use?
