Highway 70 Eastbound Closed In Carteret County

A traffic accident has closed eastbound Highway 70 in Carteret County, while westbound is down to one lane.

The wreck happened in the vicinity of Tiffany Woods, east of Beaufort. The accident is expected to close the highway for some 2 to 3 hours.

Emergency management says a military vehicle pulled off the side of the road because of leaking fuel. An environmental unit from Cherry Point is en route to the scene.

The D.O.T. says traffic is being detoured using Highway 101 and Laurel Road and travelers should expect significant delays.

I was driving the the middle of the military caravan several vehicles behind the truck that pulled to the side of the road. When I was finally able to get around it, there was no wreck. Was there a wreck later? People were driving recklessly, because they seemed to be in a hurry but when the military truck went off the side of the road, there was no wreck. Please make your reporting clearer.
