Prescription drugs have always been tossed away or left around but, several Police departments have set up at all Carteret County Food Lions to take those perscriptions off your hands the safe way.
The event is called "Pills Can Kill" and is going on to reduce substance abuse and possible crime. Today was the third Saturday of the collection and operation to prevent any future harm to citizens. For example after a pill chemically breaks down over time it can become toxic which is why it is important to only use what is prescribed to you.
Organizers are confident that the drive will help out. The first two collections were successful with over 70,000 dosage units collected.
