There has been another wild animal found with rabies in Carteret County, the second in a week.
On Tuesday a man called about a sick raccoon in his yard on Old airport road in the Wildwood area.
Animal control went to the home and an officer shot the raccoon when it showed aggressive behavior.
The man's dog is under home quarantine for 45 days because it may have come in contact with the rabid animal. The dog was current on its rabies shots, and immediately received a booster shot from the vet.
Fliers were distributed to homes in the area advising them of the rabid raccoon and precautions they should take.
Last Thursday a man was bitten by a rabid fox in Davis, while they have found two other rabid raccoons and a rabid bat so far this year in Carteret County.
