Events kicked off Tuesday to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the town of Beaufort in Carteret County.
Beaufort was founded in 1709 -- and is the third oldest town in North Carolina.
This week folks can celebrate the towns history and heritage by checking out boat building demonstrations, taking a historic sail boat ride, taking part in a book signing, and enjoying good food and music.
The official parade and opening ceremony for the 300th celebration will be held Friday at 6:00 pm along the historic waterfront.
