Hotels and motels along the Crystal Coast say they expect to see more people vacationing closer to home this summer and taking weekend trips instead of staying a whole week
Their expectations come after a new Associated Press survey found 42 percent of Americans are planning a vacation this summer which is down from 49 percent in an Associated Press poll conducted in 2005.
The survey found the recession may have people rethinking their vacations and taking shorter cheaper trips.
A shorter and less expensive trip is exactly what Mike Danenberg is doing along the Crystal Coast because of the economy and increase in gas prices. Danenberg says, "We are gonna do our annual vacation in San Diego for a week but had to cut off a couple days."
